Description

A weekly bareboat charter from Alimos Marina is one of the most rewarding ways to experience Greece on your own terms - especially when your cruising ground is the Saronic Gulf. Starting right from Athens’ most established sailing hub, you gain immediate access to calmer waters, shorter passages, and a chain of islands that feel wonderfully diverse despite being close enough to keep the week relaxed. This is the kind of charter that suits sailors who want freedom and flexibility without sacrificing comfort, security, or variety: sheltered bays for easy anchoring, traditional harbor towns for evening strolls, and swim stops that can be as spontaneous as the wind allows. With embarkation at 17:00 on Saturday and return at 09:00 the following Saturday, the week is structured for smooth logistics while leaving you in complete control of how you spend each day at sea.

About Our Service in Alimos Marina, Athens and the Saronic Gulf
Your charter begins with a professionally organized check-in at Alimos Marina, where our local support team ensures your start is fast, clear, and confidence-building. Before you head out, you’ll receive a full charter briefing covering navigation guidance for the Saronic region, safety procedures, boat handling, and onboard system instructions. Inventory verification and a detailed yacht orientation are included so you know exactly where everything is, how it works, and what to do in everyday situations such as anchoring, mooring, and operating key systems. You’ll also find navigation charts, pilot books, and regional guides onboard, giving you practical reference points for ports, bays, and recommended approaches. Throughout the week, technical assistance is available, and 24/7 emergency support provides peace of mind - especially helpful for families, newer bareboat crews, or anyone wanting the reassurance of a professional back-up. Optional extras can elevate the week further, including skipper services if you want a hands-off holiday, early check-in to extend your first day, and add-ons like SUP/kayak, Wi-Fi, outboard engine, and more.

Day 1 - Saturday: Alimos to Poros (28 NM)
After your afternoon embarkation and final provisioning, you depart Alimos and settle into the rhythm of Aegean sailing with a passage toward Poros. This first leg is an excellent introduction to the Saronic Gulf - scenic, approachable, and usually comfortable, allowing your crew to gain confidence quickly. Arriving later in the day, Poros welcomes you with a lively waterfront lined with cafés and tavernas, while the town’s hillside streets invite an easy evening walk. For an unforgettable first-night panorama, the climb to the Clock Tower rewards you with sweeping views across the harbor, especially as the sun drops and the lights of Poros Town glow against the water. Overnight aboard in Poros lets you enjoy the island at its most atmospheric, once day visitors drift away and the promenade turns calm and local again.

Day 2 - Sunday: Poros to Dokos (19 NM)
Leaving Poros in the morning, the tone shifts from harbor life to pure seclusion as you cruise to Dokos, a quiet, uninhabited island known for pristine bays and clear turquoise water. Here, the charter becomes exactly what bareboating does best: choosing your own anchorage, timing your swim stops as you like, and spending the afternoon in untouched nature. Dokos is ideal for snorkeling and relaxed floating sessions, and it’s also associated with ancient maritime history, adding a subtle sense of intrigue to its calm surroundings. As evening arrives, the lack of onshore development becomes the highlight - a peaceful dinner onboard, gentle water sounds, and a star-filled sky that feels impossibly bright without city lights. Overnight at anchor is one of those “this is why we charter” moments.

Day 3 - Monday: Dokos to Spetses (13 NM)
A shorter sail delivers you to Spetses, an island that blends elegance, tradition, and a distinctly cosmopolitan feel. Arriving by midday gives you time to enjoy both sea and shore. Many crews choose a swim stop at Zogeria, one of the island’s most beautiful bays, where pine-covered slopes meet clear water. If you enjoy small adventures, Bekiri’s Cave offers a memorable detour - a sea cave accessible by boat that adds a sense of discovery to the day. In the evening, Spetses Town comes alive with its boutiques, waterfront restaurants, and stylish bars. Horse-drawn carriages and classic architecture give the harbor a special atmosphere, turning even a simple stroll into a travel highlight. Overnight in Spetses keeps you close to the heart of the island’s energy.

Day 4 - Tuesday: Spetses to Hydra (17 NM)
Today’s sail leads to one of Greece’s most iconic islands: Hydra. Approaching Hydra is a visual delight - amphitheater-style houses rising from the waterfront, stone mansions, and a harbor scene that feels timeless. With no cars on the island, movement happens by foot, donkey, or sea taxi, creating a peaceful pace that instantly changes your mood. After anchoring near Mandraki or the main harbor area, you can explore narrow pedestrian lanes, browse artisan shops, and enjoy the island’s strong artistic character. Hydra is perfect for a long afternoon swim followed by sunset cocktails on the waterfront, where the light on the stone buildings turns golden and the harbor becomes a natural stage. Overnight in Hydra is a must for anyone who wants that classic Greek-island evening atmosphere.

Day 5 - Wednesday: Hydra to Poros (10 NM)
A gentle sail back toward Poros keeps the week balanced, offering time to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures that make island-hopping so addictive. This is the day for finding your personal “favorite bay” - perhaps a return to a spot you loved earlier or a new stop such as Monastiri Beach or Russian Bay. The sailing distance is short enough that you can enjoy long water sessions: snorkeling, floating, sunbathing, and relaxed lunch onboard. Back in Poros, the evening can be different from your first visit - a new taverna, a different viewpoint, or a quieter walk away from the main promenade. Overnight in Poros again gives a comforting sense of familiarity, like returning to a favorite neighborhood for your midweek reset.

Day 6 - Thursday: Poros to Moni Island (15 NM)
The route now points toward Moni, a protected nature island opposite Aegina that feels like a hidden sanctuary. Anchoring here is about pure water quality and natural atmosphere - crystal-clear swimming, excellent snorkeling, and a calm environment framed by pine forests. Moni is also famous for its free-roaming wildlife, including deer and peacocks, creating an unexpected and memorable shoreline scene. It’s an ideal place to unplug: no rushing, no crowds, just a beautiful anchorage where an afternoon swim can stretch into golden hour, followed by a peaceful onboard dinner and a quiet night surrounded by nature. Overnight at Moni is often one of the most treasured parts of this Saronic loop.

Day 7 - Friday: Moni to Aegina (8 NM) to Alimos (13 NM)
The final day blends heritage and relaxed island living. After breakfast, you cruise to Aegina, an island known for its history, pistachio orchards, and charming fishing villages. Stopping in areas such as Perdika adds a classic “last Greek lunch” moment - waterfront dining, easy swimming access, and a relaxed local vibe that feels like the perfect farewell to island life. Later, you set course back to Alimos Marina, arriving in the late afternoon to complete check-out procedures. Many crews enjoy a final evening in Athens’ coastal areas, but even staying onboard at the marina has its own satisfaction: the week completed, the logbook full, and the feeling that you truly lived the sea for seven nights.

About Our Boat - Beneteau Oceanis 38 (2014-2015)
At 11.50 m in length with a 3.99 m beam and 2.05 m draft, this modern sailing yacht is designed to make bareboat life easy, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyable. The Beneteau Oceanis 38 is widely appreciated for its versatile, smart interior approach that suits different charter styles - whether you’re a couple wanting space to spread out, a small family needing practical comfort, or friends sailing together for a relaxed week. With three cabins and six berths, accommodation is straightforward and functional, while the yacht’s bright saloon provides a welcoming central living space for meals, planning routes, and winding down after long swim sessions. Natural light and an open feel help the interior stay pleasant even during warmer Greek afternoons, while the overall layout supports smooth movement onboard - essential when living at sea for a week.

The galley is arranged for real week-long provisioning rather than “minimal cooking.” Storage and workspace are practical, allowing you to prepare breakfasts, pack lunch plates for anchorage days, or cook fresh seafood dinners after picking up supplies at island markets. A dependable 30 HP engine supports easy maneuvering in marinas and harbors, while essential sailing systems help you handle the yacht confidently across the Saronic’s varied conditions. Comfort features such as bimini and sprayhood improve sun and wind protection, solar panels support onboard autonomy, and the electric anchor winch makes repeated anchoring easier - particularly valuable on a route filled with beautiful bays you’ll want to stop in often. The cockpit is built for outdoor living: excellent seating, good visibility, and an atmosphere that naturally becomes your “floating terrace” for dining, conversation, and sunset watching. Optional extras such as an outboard motor, skipper, SUP, Wi-Fi, and early check-in allow you to tailor the yacht and service to your preferred holiday style.

What makes this charter especially strong in the Athens region is its combination of professional organization and genuine freedom. You are not locked into a rigid schedule, yet you are supported by a team that knows how to make bareboat simple and secure. The Saronic route is popular for a reason: short distances, protected waters, diverse islands, and a week that feels full without feeling exhausting. If you want an authentic Greek sailing holiday where each day can be shaped by the weather, your mood, and the discoveries you make along the way, this is the kind of charter that consistently delivers - and it does so with comfort, reliability, and the sort of calm confidence that keeps guests returning year after year.
