Description
With over 8,000 miles of coastline and over 2,000 islands to explore, the greatest way to enjoy Greece and its many sites is by boat. A Greek sailing holiday allows you to explore the ruins of Ancient Greece, drink traditional mezé at friendly waterside tavernas, and stop off at some of the country's famous party islands for the greatest nightlife in the Med. Take the helm of a gorgeous rented yacht and sail for extended periods of open sea to the scattered Saronic Islands, or enjoy simple line-of-sight exploration through the famous Heptanese Islands off Greece's west coast.
Sailing in Greece is a near-mythical combination of line-of-sight cruising and lengthier, more difficult trips. The gentle winds and warm waters of the Ionian Sea invite sailors of all levels to embark on a true adventure, whilst the Saronic appeals to those seeking a more challenging expedition. Set sail from Lefkas for some traditional Greek island hopping, or head to Corfu for some steady coastal sailing. Our Athens Zea location is an excellent starting point for journeys to the Cyclades and the wider Saronic.
BAREBOAT OR SKIPPERED CHARTER
With a bareboat charter trip, you may design your own itinerary along the Greek coast, stopping whenever and wherever you like. Sail all day on your monohull or catamaran and party all night, or while away the hours reading on deck, sunning on the beach, or snorkeling in the clear waters; the world is yours to explore on a Grecian bareboat holiday. If you want to enjoy the freedom of the Mediterranean without the stress of sailing alone, a skippered yacht charter trip is excellent. Set your own path and go wherever the mood takes you in the company of a professional skipper. Improve your sailing skills while enjoying a leisurely approach to coastal cruising, with our discreet skippers ensuring your personal space when you need it.
ATHENS ONE WEEK CHARTER
Explore the Saronic and Cycladic islands from our Zea Marina base on a bareboat charter holiday. With the legendary Meltemi wind, the Saronic Gulf is perfect for more experienced sailors, with strong winds and long periods of blue water sailing. This breeze can occur at any time between May and October, but it is most common in the summer, from June to September. It is at its strongest and longest between July and August. It can blow for a single day or for up to a week, however 3 to 4 days is more common. On a hot summer day, this wind can provide pleasant relief, especially in and around Athens. On a bareboat charter holiday, you may sail at your own leisure and enjoy the historic antiquities, magnificent scenery, and vibrant culture of the Aegean Sea.
